THE CURRENT SITUATION OF THE PROJECT

Rubanda district topography is quite mountainous so it is very difficult for kids to travel from home to their respective schools, especially during rainy seasons. When it rains, the bad-conditioned roadway is covered with bad environs; therefore, the road that brings the kids to school become dangerous. The kids in this District are very poor: undernourished, passive and very disadvantaged. Their parents are struggling laborers so it is financially impossible to afford their kids a bike or any essential mean of transportation to school.

THE PROPOSED SOLUTION

To overcome the problems, it is imperative that pupils at Greenfield Nursery & Primary School have a school mini-van. This will provide vital and necessary support to facilitate kids on the safe way to school and support school in other circumstances like growing of co-curricular activities like sports, income earning as this Van will be hired by other institutions and also highly targeting the tourism fraternity as tourism industry is among the growing industries in Rubanda District.

The school van will encourage pupil’s exposure as it will ease transportation of pupils to field tours and school exchange visits.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Short-Term Objective: Students have appropriate, accessible, convenient and safe means of transport to go to school and to travel for other places for school co-curricular activities.

Long-Term Objective: Greenfield Nursery & Primary kid’s “Wheels for Education”projectis proved to be of a huge advantage for strained families and provides extra inspiration for young learners to enjoy accessible education along with maintaining their school attendance. As a result, school dropout rate decreases, and this help more students reach education and have a brighter future. Through equipping the school with a van that aims to promote road safety awareness, ease co-curricular activities, tours and minimize other transport costs incurred by the school

PROJECT BENEFICIARIES

Direct Beneficiaries: Greenfield Nursery and Primary school staff and pupils.

Indirect Beneficiaries: Other institutions and tourism fraternity members who will hire the van. Community members will also benefit indirectly as the ban in its availability will ber theyre for hire in case of emergencies as these services are not common pending the remoteness of Rubanda as a district.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

A comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system will be put in place to monitor and evaluate the school van activities. Income and expenses upon the use of the van will be entered into the system and regular reconciliations are to be done.

After 4 months donors will physically assess the project in collaboration with its partners. Assessment will look at financial benefits, social benefits, achievements against goals and financial reporting. After the assessment there will be a meeting with coordinators of the project, Partners, project beneficiaries and focus on planning for the maintenance or addition of another van project or not to.

REPORTING

We expect to send quarterly operational report about the progress of the van project, every after three months and a comprehensive report will be sent every after six months covering; mechanical status, van achieved project activities so that the participating donors can review how the donation that was given was used in accordance with the vision of the Greenfield Nursery and Primary School.
