SPORTS DAY!!

Sports Day at the Greenfield Nursery and Primary School was a great success!  There was approximately 400 people attending including the students.  The children participated in different games like running races for girls and boys, skipping rope, singing, dancing and telling stories.  The parents and guardians came baring gifts of 4 bags of cement for the school, this was greatly appreciated.  After the events lunch was served for everyone.

We had special guest like The Hamuwra Chairman, directors from neighbouring schools and the guest of honour was the assistant District Education Officer. Speeches were made by the school chairman telling parents and guardians who proud he is of the schools progress and the need that still persists.  He also talked about how happy he was to knowing the Greenfield school is putting on events such as these encouraging children to grow in their talents.  He hopes that the Greenfield Nursery and Primary school becomes the leading Nursery and Primary school in Hamuwra after having all the classrooms built that are needed for the school.

The head teacher’s speech was to the parents and guardians reassuring that the teachers and the children are working hard together to meet all the goals in getting their children ready for the secondary level of school.  She continued to talk about how some children come to school without food to eat or have cold lunches that are not good for the health of the children.  Children who spend all day long without food have a hard time concentrating on their school work and hopefully when the classrooms are finished we will have a food program to help these children.

The founder and director Robert Akampurira speech entailed hope and encouragement  and assuring families that education is the key to ending poverty. He thanked everyone for coming and mention that our school is truly blessed and with God all things will be possible. He continued to talk about finishing the school so it will be a fully functional school and hopefully start a breakfast and lunch program for the children.  He wants to encourage sports in the school so it will further develop the children’s talents.
